The Topmaster stainless steel chimney hood offers a solution for installation on a stainless steel roof duct. A stainless steel chimney hood is also available for the preservation of the stainless steel chimney duct. The term "stainless" that is popularly used for stainless steel is frowned upon among metallurgists. Rust "free" steel will indeed rust. However, this oxide layer is sealed, so that no further rust formation will occur. In circumstances that are persistent enough, or if the protective oxide layer is damaged, rust formation can occur locally extra quickly. This is caused by, among other things, chlorides or other metals that nestle in the surface. It is therefore essential not to place any other metals on a stainless steel roof duct than stainless steel. The Topmaster stainless steel hood is made entirely of stainless steel and is therefore extremely suitable for this.
